The Memphis Police Department says they have found the body of a man found shot to death in his car.
Officers responded to a call for a suspicious person just before 7 a.m.
Wednesday at the intersection of West Davis Street and West Berette Avenue.
According to the Memphis Police, when officers arrived, they found the man, identified as 37-year-old John Lee.
He had been shot multiple times in the head.
Police said Lee was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.
According the Memphis Fire Department, the officer who responded to the call reported that he had witnessed the suspect get out of his vehicle and walk down the road with his hands up.
Police say Lee fled the scene on foot and is not believed to have committed any crimes.
Police were still investigating whether the suspect may have had accomplices.
