A man has died after an unexpected hit-by-vehicle accident on a Melbourne street, police said.
Police said the man, aged in his 50s, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after the incident on the intersection of Northland Street and Park Street, Melbourne.
The collision happened around 1:30am.
It is believed the man was in a white Ford Focus car.
The car was travelling southbound when it hit a man who was walking across the intersection and then hit a parked car, police told ABC News.
“It was a very unexpected collision,” Sergeant Tony Pannell said.
The man died at the scene.
Sergeant Pannel said the driver of the car was not injured.
The intersection of the intersection where the collision occurred was closed for several hours and officers were investigating the circumstances of the collision.
The driver of a white car was also taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital for treatment after being hit by the car.
